1999 SBC Cotton Bowl Classic

Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams and his Texas Longhorns go toe to toe with the Bulldogs of Mississippi State University. Both teams came in with solid seasons. MSU was 8-4 and Texas was 8-3. During the first half the Mississippi State defense did an incredible job keeping Ricky Williams out of the end zone. Taking advantage of the focus on Williams, Texas quarterback Major Applewhite scored twice with touchdown passes to Wane McGarity. Then, in the second half, the Heisman Trophy winner exploded. Ricky Williams' start for that day were staggering with 203 yards on 30 attempts and two touchdowns - the third best day on record.
